I went to the Empress on 12/22/03, (I have a free admission pass).
The Empress now has a video poker game called Double Down Stud.
There is a $1/$5 machine on the lower level and a $5 machine in the
high-limit area. There are the choices of games based on Pay
Schedule: Pair of Sixes or Better, Pair of Sevens or Better, Pair of
Eights or Better, or Any Pair or Better. The player is dealt the
first 4 cards, then the player is given the option of doubling the
bet or not. After that the fifth card is dealt and the hand is over.
The payouts are higher ($20,000 for a Royal Flush at $1 game)than
for regular video poker games. Does anyone know more about Double
Down Stud Video Poker?
