Despite claims that no seat is more than 140 feet from the stage at Caesars,
the stage is huge, and the balcony seats seem a considerable distance away.
There is a huge diamond screen which sometimes shows closeups of the main
performers, but anyone up in the balcony who really wants a close look at the
faces may want to bring binoculars.
Still being in either balcony doesn't mean you will have a bad time. In
the case of Elton, the main thing is the music, and if you like Elton, you will
enjoy the music. Some of the inflatables got to be over the top, but the
images on the diamond screen were sometimes impressive. Unfortunately there
were no good closeups of Elton's hands, and if you are on the wrong side of the
stage you won't be able to see him.
The sound quality in the colleseum is excellent, and you'll enjoy the music.
The inflatables and diamond screen make Elton's show "bigger than life."
For Celine, provided her voice is in good shape, the sound system will give
you a great performance. I've seen her 4 times, 3 times from the balcony, and
the voice quality was great 3 times. One one occasion she had a noticeable
lisp or lisp-like speech impediment in parts of the songs which I found
annoying.
The huge stage is filled with at least 50 performers who make the stage come
alive. Celine moves constantly and dances with the performer and the best
numbers are those that involve her interacting with the other peformers.
Fortunately the costumes for the dancers have been changed in the last few
months, and are much better than they were. The images on the diamond screen have
also changed -- although they are not as striking as they were initially,
they really are better because they don't upstage Celine. The numbers have
also been streamlined and improved in general from earlier performances.
Celine's costumes have also been improved, thank goodness. She is now wearing long
hair. Overall the changes have greatly improved the overall quality of the
show.
From the balconies you can see the overall effect of the dancers and the
diamond screen. You may be disappointed not to see a closeup of Celine's face
at all times, but you could check her out through binoculars. The show is so
vast that it is hard to decide what to concentrate on, and perhaps works
better if you look at the whole, and not just Celine.
People with a fear of heights will not like being in either balcony.
So overall the balcony seats do give you an enjoyable show. However, if you
can afford the more expensive seats, as you might guess, being in the lower
orchestra seats is the best place to see. Rear orchestra is 2nd best, then
1st balcony, then 2nd balcony. If you are going to be in the balcony, try to
get center section, and consider taking binoculars.
