Just back from LV. The 10 JWKB TI/TO machines in the alcove
across from Roberta's have been replaced by JWKB progressives
with a short pay schedule. (15/10). Spent two days cking casino
found no TI/TO. machines. The full pay machines (20/7/5) I did
fine were coin droppers and slowed to a crawl. There are many
18/7/5 and lesser pay scheduled scattered about. But no TI/TO
machines.

Dear Local VP Players and esteemed Admin.,

I am VERY troubled by this message! I am due to stay at the EC next
month. If this report is accurate, particularly NO TITO, which is
what I very much prefer, I'll stay elsewhere!

Can anyone verify this for me?

Thanks for your help!

Distraught Babe

This is surprising.

I frequent AC, and among the Casinos I visit there (Harrahs, Showboat,
Borgata and Resorts), a vast majority of the machines are coinless.
They retrofitted the coin machines with the ticket printing modules,
and plugged up the coin drop slot. There still a tray under the
machine, which seems to be mostly used to drop cigarette ashes and
butts.

I would have thought Las Vegas would be way ahead of AC in this regard.

I *think* the report meant that there were no fullpay JWKB machines
with TITO. Rather, all the fullpay JWKB machines were coin droppers.

I moved to Las Vegas almost a year ago. I play video poker every day. In
the time I've lived here, I've not played at a non-TITO machine.

The coin droppers that are still in service are a dying breed.

Some people actually look for them to play. Sometimes I like to play
them for the fun of running around with the cups/trays, etc. Even
Venetian has a number of coin-dropping quarter slots.

The demographic that the El Cortez attracts (and that management is
trying to change) is lower class, lower income, with little or no
knowledge of vp strategy. They actually prefer the coin droppers so
they can see and touch the coins. The TITO KBJW machines never seemed
to get much use while the old machines were in demand. I have a
feeling that the people who did play the new machines were mostly
knowledgable and they made a much higher profit on the old machines.
Of course those old JW machines will continue to disappear as the
Downtown Deuces are and soon there will be no reason to go to the El
Cortez.

I think you would be right. As I recall, Las Vegas was years ahead of AC in adopting TITO. I think conversions started here in the late 90's, but I'm not sure. I believe the Suncoast (September, 2000) was the first all TITO casino here.

Once upon a time, there was 100.64 Joker at Rainbow in Henderson-no
slot club, cash and carry, but TITO and very fast machines. Oh yeah,
they also had FPDW there as well, both for dollars. Rainbow got
written up in LVA, and guess what happened about three weeks later?
You can still play 10-coin quarter FPDW there, but the dollar stuff is
long gone.

I'm really not trying to bust on LVA, I just wish they would use some
common sense. Their target audience are Vegas tourists, not Vegas
hustlers.

My fiancée was outraged the first time I sat her down at a TITO machine. It
was a total "where's the beef" moment for her.

1. Most LVA video poker inventory write-ups have already been
reported on vpFREE.

2. Publicizing a good play can have favorable as well as unfavorable
longevity ramifications. You can never know what would have
happened if a play were outed sooner than it was.

3. Only the casino really knows why they have (or remove) a
particular machine(s).

4. The general consensus on the demise of the Rainbow $1 FPDW
was that no one was playing them, rather than they were being
pounded by greedy pros.

5. $1 FPDW in LV (with no slot club benefits) has recently been
reported on vpFREE, and I believe they are experiencing neglect
rather than over-play.

I think Borgata at AC was all or mostly TITO, when it opened in mid
2003. Until then, it was available on a fraction of the machines at
various casinos.

On a related technology issue, I haven't seen any machines at AC which sport Flat Panel Displays for the machines. Do they have them in Vegas? --- In vpFREE@yahoogroups.com, Skip Hughes <skiphughes@...> wrote:

Thanks, sdj!

I just spoke to my friend at the EC, and I'm sure that you're
correct.

While she professed to have no knowledge of paytable changes on
the TITO machines, in the alcove, she absolutely assured me that
those machines are still TITO.

I'll report what I find next month, if no one else does in the
interim.
