El Dorado vs Silver Legacy

I would like a comparison between these two casinos. I have
a Gold Card at The Eldorado and the first tier card level at
the Silver Legacy. I see that both casinos currently have the
games I want. I mostly play $1 9/6 JoB and NSUD. I do like to
have the option if $2 and $5 or maybe multiplays in these games.

So video poker does not seem to be the problem. I would like
to know which gives the most comps and cash back per $1 gambled,
or the comparable rates. I currently get free rooms at both,
but those rooms are not too important unless I need to get
free rooms for friends.

I believe The Eldorado does not give cash back, just comps and
free slot play bases upon bonus from "sharing jackpots" I was
just at the Eldorado and they said "starting soon, this bonus
jackpots sharing will be only free slot play instead of the
former cash situation". Does the Silver Legacy give any cash
back in addition to comps?

I am from Phoenix and Harrahs currently sends me free flights
to Reno and L:ake Tahoe. I can maintain status at two closeby casinos. The flights are paid by Harrahs, but I seem to like
these two nearby casinos more. The reward credits earned at
Harrahs can be used at other Harrahs casinos, so I see using
comps earned at either The Eldorado or the Silvery Legacy being
used in Reno. It would be great if all benefits were cash, but
that is not the case. I did talk to a host at The Eldorado.
It appears flights from them would be too high of a standard
to maintain since I am not local, thus available enough, to
maintain the required play for flight reimbursement.

I would appreciate all information and advice in this comparison.

I believe The Eldorado does not give cash back.

Just received my quarterly CB from Eldorado: $10 for
about $20k? play and only good for October. So it may
not be usable for an infrequent visitor. VP comps are 0.5%
for everyone. Hi rollers get invites to drawings/tournies
which again my not be usable for you. If food is comped by
a host what do you use your comps for? A case of Carano-
Ferrari wine? Jewerly?

The single line 25c DB at Eldorado are full-pay at
5 to 25 coins. So they are 25c to $1.25 machines.
The data base incorrectly lists them as 5-play. The
JOB/NSUD are progressive so they are limited to 5 coins.
The LDW have been downgraded and I see some mention that
the DB has been also.

For a while they were advertising 10% same day cashback. I don't know if that deal is still on or if the gambling regulators finally cracked down on them.

I don't know why they would crack down on them. Harrah's, to this day
(as far as I know) is still advertising downtown something like 23%
back in cash and comps or something absolutely insane like that. I
have looked extensively and questioned people to the point of
annoyance about that number, but I still have no explanation of where
23% comes from.

I'm guessing the 23 (or 10) is referring to percentage of theoretical loss, which is a much smaller number than the figure implies (percentage of action).

Obviously I do not know much about these two casinos, thus
my questions. I guess I was not referring to any mailers,
which as you say, might not be too convenient for in infrequent
visitor. I guess I just meant that after playing there was no
cash comp available for that trip's play.

I do not have a host, but I sought one out in July for
information. She gave me a pass to free drinks in the Gold
Room Registration and 2 show tickets for Menopause, the
Musical. I am not aware of meal comps and none were offered.

On this trip I put through about $18,000 in video poker play
which should at least keep some free rooms coming. It appears
that my comp balance went from $68.95 to $131.45 on my last
$10,000 of play on $1 9/6 JoB. After that checking my balance,
I went back and played one $5 hand of Video Blackjack. The
comp balanced change to $131.48. These are my only samples.

In July, my Harrah's host told me this 10% cash back
was a promotional program for local only. You needed
indentification proof that you lived in the area.

I'm quite familiar with both places. Your mileage will vary, and much of this has to do with the type of games you play, averages ( both use different formulas ), and how much you lose ( the best customer ! ). About 1 year ago, I'd say it was not even close, ELDO all the way, but now both casino's are hurting and cutting back somewhat on generous ratings and freebies.
This is my 2 cents ....

                            ELDO vs SL
game selection 25C --> SL
game selection 50C and greater --> ELDO
Restaurants --> ELDO
Rooms -->Tie
Comps --> ELDO
Concert offers --> SL
Cash back/free play -->SL
Treat old time customers like family -->ELDO
Ease of getting room on tough holidays --> ELDO
Buffet --> ELDO
SPA/workout room --> SL
Security --> Tie
Entertainment --> Tie
Chance of getting bothered by low lifes --> Eldo
Chance of finding hidden/unpublished good plays --> SL
Chance of getting surrounded by chain smokers --> Tie ( both very good chance )
Location --> Tie
Parking / Valet --> Tie
Slot Club --> SL
Best locals offers -->SL
Best Bars -->Eldo
best maintained machines and slot attendants --> SL
best gimmicks --> SL ( treasures of the eldorado is really lame )

I found that number in a Nevada gaming commission report last year.
Large Reno casinos returned about 23% of their actual winnings in comps --
rooms at rack rate, free booze to slot players, food, etc. Las Vegas was
slightly higher.
