I played the Jokers at the El Cortez usually when they had a cashback point promotion.
My memory is so bad I can't remember what the number was but if you ran your
cashback over a certain amount, the boothling had to get a supervisor to sign off on it.
That supervisor was the heat. The trick was to take the cashback before it got that high.

The amount of CB that could be distributed by the EC card club, without a Slot Manager's
OK, was $100. I haven't played there in over two years, so I can't verify that is still the
case.
I always took my CB at the end of each trip. If it was over $100 I had no problem waiting
for the manager to sign off on the transaction. I usually left $15 - $25 of CB in my account
for "next time".
I do know that the EC was terribly uptight about anyone cashing out even a couple of hundred bucks at BJ. My husband once went to the cage to cash out after playing for
about two hours. He had approximately $275 in black, green and red chips, of which
$175 was winnings. You would have thought that he took them for $100K ! Two supervisors were called over for consultation before the transaction was completed.
When the old EC had positive VP up to $1.00 denom., many strong players patronized
them. That was usually OK with the suits until the AP had the temerity to go on a
winning streak, or even a PERCEIVED winning streak. Then they were either told that their "VP play was no longer welcome", though they could gamble at other games, or they were actually read the "Trespass Act", led from the casino by security, and told not to ever enter the EC again under threat of being arrested.
The EC finally solved their AP player problem, along with also ridding themselves of most
of their ploppie players, by removing all playable VP machines in the joint.
For whatever reason, I was always treated very well at the EC, even though it was one of
my really "lucky" places to play. But I've heard from some other players, that they were
subjected to unwarrented and humiliating experiences.
