Edgewater VP Gutted II

In other news from Laughlin the River Palms is apparently taking over the Ramada
Express which might be an improvement since it is currently a vast wasteland. Also heard
that the Aquarius (formerly the Flamingo) is going bankrupt again. I'm not surprised since
it is also another vast wasteland.
Apparently owners of a lot of these casinos think that they will make more money by
cutting VP payouts. I dont know who they think is going to go there and play since they
dont have big shows or other attractions. The only attraction they used to have was FP VP
and other FP table games. Getting rid of FP VP or going to 6/5 blackjack is not going to
help. Maybe they thing that a lot of rich indians whose tribes own casinos will come to visit
I remember when the Gold Coast used to a lot of full pay VP and the place was
mobbed, you could hardly get a seat. After they removed the FP VP I would say that the
number of people there dropped to about one half to one third of the former amount.
Apparently casino owners have forgotten the basic rule, namely:
You have to send out winners to bring in losers.

However there is now a new rule which Nevada gaming better start paying attention to:
If you dont offer better odds and payouts then Indian casinos, who is going to go to
Nevada?

Boy you got that right, the old Gold Coast used to be a regular mob
scene, packed to the rafters. And that really made an impression on
even the most casual gamblers, who wouldn't notice how much more
crowded it was than the other casino's. It's funny how none of the
Casino's seem to care about that anymore, nobody wants to be THE
place to gamble. I'm sure the Gold Coast made a fortune off of that
dynamic, back in those days. Nothing says tight machines more to a
gambler than to walk through the door and seeing the place looking
like a ghost town. And if a casino wants to attract a nice crowd
what is the easiest way, offer good VP, that works every time.
