I was amused at the logic of changing them to short pay. On my last
visit to the famous trio, there was a slot tournament going on, and the
slot players were dominating the machines. I finally found two of them
open, but when I went to sit down to play, I found they had been shut
off. The bartender told me that two of the players in the slot
tournament had talked them into shutting them down while they were
playing in their slot round!

Those machines had wonderful paytables, but they never failed to put a
huge dent in my bankroll. I never could win on them.

Yes, I too always made a contribution on these Triple-play progressives. I
enjoyed that corner of the VP world.

For the uninformed, the Edgewater River Bar is that long bar that has 39 Game
Kings on one side and 3 GK Triple-play quarters on the short side hooked up
to a 1% meter. Offered were 9/6 Jacks/NSUD/and some versions of
Super-Double-Whammys (var 30+).

It was common to play these guys where all pay lines would result in a W2-G.
People just drinking/not playing irritated me more than anything else. Only
one guy, playing two at a time and standing up (please raise your hand) really
stood out as a pro. I could bet on most of the time to be able to make a
donation.

This play lasted, what three years? OK, who remembers what was on these
three before they became Triple-plays? How about 17/10 Loose Deuces!

Another thing brought up is drawing tickets. They only give away $3k total
in each drawing. They dilute the value by giving extras out in marketing
offers. I would value a ticket at $2 tops.
