For the past few months I've been watching my comp balance at the
Edgewater. Several thousand dollars of play each month and my comp
balance sets at zero. Now I've had my suspicions confirmed. In
October I went into the host office and, since my comp balance was
zero, asked what does it take to get the comp balance moving. I was
given the perverbial line: comps accrue very slowly. >>>
Based on a day where I played on a variety of vp, earned $16 of comps.
Actual play was $35K & pts were accurately recorded on system but people at VIP
lounge said I had $26K of play that day but the cutoff time may have been a
factor. In any case, comp earning rate is between 0.0046% to 0.0064% or worse
than Ramada. Practice is to write up offsets when you check out so that you're
not charged for negative balance. Don't know if this is just for Gold &
Silver card holders or not. Know some people who are so far in the negative that
they have no hope of getting out. Recent change in policy where meals for Gold
or Silver card are no long taken out of comps may help get some to positive
side of ledger. Since I never used my Gold or Silver card for a lot of
expensive meals, I'm actually near even but any hopes of accumulating enough comps
for show tickets in LV are slim. Regarding taking advantage of their offset
policy, I wouldn't recommend it as MGM bean counters come on board in Jan &
will probably look for abusers to comp-limit.
