For the past few months I've been watching my comp balance at the
Edgewater. Several thousand dollars of play each month and my comp
balance sets at zero. Now I've had my suspicions confirmed. In
October I went into the host office and, since my comp balance was
zero, asked what does it take to get the comp balance moving. I was
given the perverbial line: comps accrue very slowly. I was however
given a $15 comp for the Garden Room with no points taken off. What I
was not told was that my comp balance was debited, seems they go
negative! You know those postcards you get each month, well, some have
offers of comp. Well it seems that the comp is not in addition to what
you get from play but an advance on your future comp earnings. My
postcard for December shows that I get a comp of $20 -- yeah, I'll get
the $20 but it will, I'm quite sure based on past performance, be
debited from my already slightly negative comp balance. I can check
over the internet or at the slot club and I'll get a zero balance --
but in fact, and what is not being told, is that it is negative.
Edgewater Negative Comp Balance
The Edgewater cleaned out my account on a super bowl party offer a
few years ago. I had a zero balance for sometime, and I could not
figure it out. One of the gals at the slot booth at the Colorado
Belle chuckled as she told me that I still had a negative comp
balance, as the EW charged my account. It seems to be business as
usual at the EW. It is funny though, that the Belle has never pulled
that trick on me, although I have used many offers from them-
probably more than the EW.
