Eastbourne

Greetings from Eastbourne (God's waiting room, or so the locals call
it...LOL)!

Finally got an hour off to do some walking. Went down to the
Eastbourne pier. Cruised a small arcade with one (count them, 1) VP
machine (of the Joker Wild variety). It claimed, on a small sign, that
it supported up to 80% payback.

If I copied the payback table correctly (yes, 1 coin in only), it read:

.25 (1 pair), .50, .75, 1.00, 1.50, 2.50, 6.25, 10, 15, 25

It was a 0.25 pounds sterling machine.

Don't have VP or FG with me. Anyone care to supply the EV/VAR?

Thanks.

No! I do not want to play it. I am just curious and I don't get back
home for another week.

If this is the paytable: <1-2-3-4-6-10-25-40-60-100>
and there isn't a royal bonus, I get an ER of 72.25%
with a variance of 2.95

Thank you! Well....the variance is nice and low! <smile>

I am stuck in meetings the rest of this trip anyway. Looks like I am
not losing a thing by not playing this machine <tongue in cheek>.

You've analyzed this with the paytable starting at "2 pair". bl
indicates that the even money payout is for a single pair.

Of course, his post leaves a couple of questions. If he truly means
"1 pair", he's neglected to provide all the pays. This leaves us
assuming either that he meant to write "2-pair" (which is probably
likely, in which case roland's EV is correct), or that 1-pair pays the
same as 2-pair -- which is the case with K's/A's or better JW games.

If the latter case is true, are we to assume that the 1-pair payout is
for any pair, rather than the typical K's &/or A's found in the US?

If the paytable represents a 2-pair or better game, then roland's
analysis is correct. Otherwise, bl needs to clarify a couple of things.

It has already taken much more time than is reasonable for this
thread. I am not a Joker Wild fan and am not familiar with what the
sequence of 'winning hands' for JW. The sequence that I copied is
correct with a 'push' for 1 pair. Now, my memory is asking me whether
this is for a 'JOB pair' or 'any pair'.

In any event, with the EV being far below 95%, we can safely let this
thread die a timely death.
