Maybe I am the dumb one playing 8/5 ddb - however i did hit a royal, am leaving with $2500 and got comps for 2 specialty dinners and over $200 in credit toward ship expenses.? I may not be smart to play...but at least I know that it isn't smart...I only had played $200 in when i hit the royal...givimg me $ to play...

That reminds me of the old song, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with" ; )
BTW, when it comes to rip-offs on cruises, IMHO, 8/5 DDB doesn't come close to bingo, the jewelry store, the photos/videos, and those lovely $10 "tropical" drinks they walk around with on deck.

I was recently on a cruise ship with Holland America. The payout for the 25c JOB was 6/5, which is 95%. Other VP games were equally lousy. But people were quite eager to play them. Nobody seemed to know or care how bad they were.
My nomination for the "dumb player" award are those I sometimes see as I'm waiting to get on the "almost-full-pay" machines at Barona. Exactly as Bob Dancer had noted at his lecture there, some people will play a few hands of this game, a few of that one, always switching, with no discernable change in strategy. They'll hold a Jack or Better in Deuces Wild, even though high pairs don't pay anything in that game.
