Dumb moves?

Let's try something more lighthearted and VP oriented than some of
the recent topics.........

We all make dumb plays once in a while - a sticky button, going too
fast and missing a better strategic play, or being tired and simply
screwing up. Or (dare I say it?) - having indulged in a few too many
freebie adult beverages! Have you ever made a really dumb play on a
VP machine and had it turn out absolutely excellent? For instance,
my best story was attempting to keep a suited K-Q in DB, whiffing the
hold on the Q, and seeing A-A-A-A come up on the draw. Anybody
else? Not something you've seen somebody else do - your own story!

O.K. Mark, I'm with you.

I too have made some doozies. Not from drinking, but from playing
while too tired, and compounding that condition by switching from
some kind of Aces bonus poker to a wild thing.

My most famous mistake (at least as far as my husband is concerned)
was holding a single ace while playing downtown deuces, and
drawing.....you quessed it....the rest of the royal family!

A somewhat similar situation happened here at a local casino, several
experianced players were playing at a bank of Bonus Dueces with a
royal progressive that was fairly high. all the sudden it was hit,
and we checked to see who it was and congratulate them, it was a lady
who held a single ace (not proper strategy) and we were a little
agitated that she got it when she should never have held the ace in
the first place, but thats how it happens occasionally.

My very favorite was trying to hold two high cards, but one did not
hold. I started to curse on the draw when I saw it replaced ...
until my lone high card become the final piece of a royal! This was
my second royal in 15 minutes. Ahh, when you're hot ...

My best dumb move was: While playing very tired one evening, I was
dealt a flush with four to the royal. I held the four to the Royal
and pulled the Ace for the Royal Flush. While waiting to be paid, I
realized that I had tossed a nine which meant I had been dealt a
king high straight flush. Not the right play but it worked out.

Oh yeah! How about:

Joker Wild: A 3 J 10 5
Hold the THREE (not the Ace): result: five 3's
Q Q 7 4 2; Hold ONE of the Queens: result: Joker Royal

Double Bonehead, er, Bonus:
J 9 6 4 2; hold the FOUR; result: quad fours
K K 7 5 4; DRAW FIVE (I was falling asleep) get four 8's

FPDW:
FREQUENT: 2 2 6-7 suited, x: Draw three (wrong play) and catch quad
deuces
ALSO: A J suited, 2, 10, x; draw to the 3RF (miising the penalty
card): get a wild royal (I was trying to teach someone how to play
and this happened; I was never able to convince her that she had
made the WRONG play).
THE BEST: K J suited, 2, 7, 5; keep the KJ, PITCHING THE DEUCE as
well as the 7,5; result: royal flush. After all, how can you hit a
natural royal if you keep holding on to those deuces??
