Personally I'd just go straight up Paradise from the airport.

You can also get off at Spring Mountain (I believe the exit refers to the
Convention Center). You won't get too involved with the Strip that way.

way you describe will work too; just a little out of your way, in mileage
terms, not a lot. When you're going south on Paradise the Hilton will be on
your
left.
