Subject: Drive to Reno from Vegas?? Is it worth it??
Hi, Does anyone have any recommendations as to whether I should take a trip
from Vegas to Reno for the weekend??
I have 13 days in Vegas (longest time ever) and I could drive to Reno, I have
never been there.... I live in the East.
Is it a place I should see or is it a big nothing?? Is the drive there nice?
Anything to see on the way???
Any recommendations as to where to stay/play?? I was looking at the Hilton
or Atlantis there .
Apologize for late reply. I'm a week behind in catching up.
If it's your first trip out, it isn't worth it as you'll lose 2 days of your
trip in driving.
However, I recently drove to Las Vegas & flew to Reno for a tournament &
back. If you book early enough, airfare is cheap (Southwest has $39 fares each
way). Reno Hilton is a mile from the airport, most of the major casinos have free
shuttles & are not far from airport.
Consider a separate trip to Reno where you also take in Lake Tahoe & its
casinos & stay at Harveys or Harrahs, Lake Tahoe for a memorable experience aside
from the gaming.
As for Reno, Atlantis (tropical theme), Peppermill (luxurious) and Reno
Hilton (spacious western) have more expansive rooms than downtown. Look up their
web sites & view the rooms. Definitely a different atmosphere than Las Vegas as
pace of change is much slower.
As for the drive, not much to do except drive. Think there are probably 2
brothels & 3 casinos along the way. Oh yes, there's some places that they call
"towns" where they have actual stop signs & one town had a couple of signals
too. At least gas is cheap compared to where I live. 2 days ago, it was $1.459 in
Minden Arco, on 395 just south of Carson City.
If you want an "unreal" experience, I think you do go by Area 51 & you can
pick up T-shirts & alien jerky.
