Drinks, food at Mohegan Sun

Hi all,
I am taking my hubby to the Sun on my next trip and then a gal pal after
that. On these trips, I will be "letting my hair down", so to speak.

I always order seltzer, coffee, or hot chocolate when I am playing and there
is never a charge for these non-alcoholic drinks, be it when I am playing in
the bars, or on the gaming floor. Of course, I give them a nice tip. But what
about as far as alcohol goes? Do you have to pay for alcoholic beverages when
you are playing on the gaming floor? How about if you are playing V.P. in the
bars? And what if you are just sitting at the bar and not playing video poker?

Also, I keep hearing about this planetarium. I guess the best place to see it
is at Leffingwell's? Is that smoke free, by any chance? My friend is very
anti-smoking and I'm not too in love with it either, although I have raised by
tolerance during my multiple trips to Mohegan Sun. They have a pretty decent air
filtering system.

Lastly, as far as the upscale restaurants go, can anyone recommend a
favorite, or, conversely, one to avoid?

Thanks a lot!

Cathy B.

You do not have to pay for alcholoic bev. on casino floor. You do have to pay for them if you are not playing at the bars. (P.S.=if you are NOT playing at the bars buy your drinks then leave-that's the only place where the 9/6 jacks are) The planetarium-Go up to the Wombi Rock there is a bar up there with a great view of the floor-a great place for a drink and by the way if you are lucky there are a couple of alcoves with plush seating with a great view from far above. IMO the restaurants are a mixed bag. I have found for some reason Todd English's place has some kind of attitude. Long house was pretty good. Have not tried Michael Jorden's or the ultra Rain. Enjoy your trip and please give us a report!

We've been to MJ's twice and both times were excellent. We had the
salmon, fillet, rib eye and scallops. The side dishes are huge, one is
enough for 2 people. The mac and cheese, mushrooms, fries and creamed
spinach were also excellent. We've also been to the champagne brunch
and the sevice is better than foxwoods, but no lobster tails. We also
tried the Longhouse steakhouse but found MJ's to be far superior. -Russ

Drinks are free on the floor. At the bar, just put a
$10 in for free drinks.

Our favorite restaurant is Pompei. We've never had a
bad meal there. They're Sunday brunch is fantastic.
