Dream Card

Dream Card is one of my favorite VP games to play. To me, it adds a more fun element than some of my other multi-hand faves like Super Times Pay and Ultimate X, because getting the Dream Card improves my actual hand... which for some reason just feels more exciting than a 2X, etc.

I find it strange that this game is not found in more places. I went to Vegas for the first time last month and played it at the Mirage (they have ONE machine with it, had to ask the attendant at the High Roller area to look in their book to find it) for the first time outside of VideoPoker.com. It was a 50 cent machine, so three hand was $7.50 per game, which is usually well over what I'd play, but I was up a bit and figured "first time in Vegas, favorite game, gotta play it." Down about $60 I hit four 5-K on DDB with the DreamCard helping me, so I stopped there and felt good about it, but wished it wasn't so expensive so I could play more.

I guess the point of my post is, why isn't this game as readily available? Do others not enjoy it? VPFree2 says there two machines at Trump Taj Mahal in AC where I'm heading next month. Two machines in ALL of Atlantic City??? The pay tables/return for the casinos are not terrible, it's not like this is a 100%+ game... in fact, you could put an 8/5 JoB DC machine and the return would be better than a regular 8/5 JoB for the casino. I admit I might be missing it, and maybe it's everywhere and I just don't know it (the sign on the machines doesn't stand out too much).

I think you answered your own question when you said that the game is expensive to play, and I assume the volatility is far greater than the same game without the dream card option being played. I play it once in a while myself, and I’ve seen my money go so fast it makes me dizzy, but when it’s hitting it’s party time. I could never stomach this game for more than a quick shot, however, if I ever saw it for nickels or dimes in spin poker or 10 play with a good pay schedule, I’d give it some more serious play time.

What about Borgata? They don't have it?

The vpFree database does not list all machines but only what is considered full pay and if nothing is considered full pay then the highest paying available.

You will find Dream Card in several Atlantic City casinos and it is fun to play but the paytables are horrible and in my opinion make them not worthwhile to play other than as a whim.

It also requires you learn a different strategy if you want to maximize the return.

Just out of curiosity, why would you need to learn a different strategy. You get the dream card on the deal.

It does NOT require learning a different strategy. More information below about whether the dream card selected is always right:

I've noticed that on videopoker.com as well. However, the big question for me regarding the article linked is whether the software used on videopoker.com is identical to the software on the actual machines. Does videopoker.com license the software from the manufacturer or does the manufacturer actually own videopoker.com or is the software on videopoker.com developed by a third party?

As far as I know Action Gaming who is the developer of all the games, and licenses those games to manufacturers like IGT is the owner of the website.

As I posted a couple weeks ago, the Dream Card frequency for Deuces Wild games listed in Wizard's articles does not match that listed on the help screen for all the machines I've checked. Either he made a typo or his calculations for game return are inaccurate.

I apologize. I was thinking of Quick Quads.

(Another game fun to play but hard to find a decent pay table.)

Borgata has a few single line machines (five star poker) $1/$2/$5

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

thanks for all the replies folks... i will be looking at borgata next month as that is my preferred place in AC. as i've said, i probably have missed it as the "with Dream Card" logo doesn't really grab my eye a lot. a friend also told me he saw it once on a machine that has multiple games on it, so its not actually mentioned on the outside of all the machines that have it.

also, i need to say that i mentioned i was looking on VpFree2 for the locations... that was a mistake. i know that VPFree2 only shows the "good" payout table games... i was actually searching on videopoker.com (http://www.videopoker.com/gamesNearYou/?game=Dream%2BCard%2B3%2F5%2F10&state=&Submit=Refresh)

i don't think the game NEEDS to be expensive.... sure, 3 hands playing at the 25-cent level will be $7.50 a spin, but if they offered it at nickels at 5-play, that would be more reasonable, and only $2.00 different coin-in wise than a 10-play STP at nickels.

anyway, i was taking videopoker.com as fact, but now i will certainly scour borgata for Dream Card and report any findings back here. sadly, even a $1 single line machine wouldn't be something i'd play often since it's essentially $10 a hand.

Dreamcard is in a machine named 5 star poker. It has single line games. Dreamcard, Double Pay, Quick Quads, Ultimate X and Super Times.
