So, as I have explained Draw til u win is a 6/5/4 Double Bonus game
with the added feature that when you make a non-paying 4 card royal
or non-paying 4 card straight flush (open ended or gutshot) you get
to draw until you win. This eliminates many cards on the draw, so
when you wind up with Ac-Kc-Qc-Tc-X your chances for making the royal
are not 1 of 47 but 1 of 21 (1 royal card, 8 flush cards, 3 straight
cards, 9 high pair cards). Except, what if you were dealt Ac-Kc-Qh-
Td-7c, hold the Ac-Kc and catch the Qc-Tc-X? You threw away two pay
cards (Qh and 7c) so your chances for the royal on the draw would be
1 of l9. The same thing applies to straight flush cards.
This game was really quirky but the most fun VP game I ever played.
From a hand of 7s-5s-3s-3h-Jd the straight flush cards were far and
away the best draw. A 4 card straight flush with 1 or 2 high cards
had a much lower ER than a 4 card straight flush with no high cards
simply because you could pair one of the high cards in the draw till
u win feature. (Incidentally, "draw till u win" is exactly how the
game is spelled on the machine). You could hold a pair of tens
catch 3 royal cards to one of the tens then catch the fifth royal
card in the draw till u win feature. I never accomplished this feat,
but made several straight flushes by holding a low pair. I admit
though that holding a pair and having a shot at a straight flush or
royal flush did not occur to me when writing the strategy. It was
the first time I held a pair, wound up with a 4 card straight flush
and got to draw until I won that it dawned on me. So I had to go
back and work on the strategy some more. Imagine that, having to add
royal flush ER to a pair of tens.
The overall effect of the draw till u win feature is reducing the
royal flush odds to 9700 and the straight flush odds to 1050. 800
divided by 9700 is about 8.25% so you have about a 5% loss rate
between royals.
