Draw Delays

I bet that this subject has been addressed before, but here goes.
Sometimes, when I hit the draw button there is an unusual delay before
the hand is dealt. Unusual in that the normal deal rate is interrupted
for a period of time. Any explanation for this?

With IGT machines this occurs exactly every 100 hands and it is simply due to a systems check to make sure all systems are performing correctly.

I have a GameKing at home and it does it every 100 hands. Since it is
quiet at home, I can hear a low buzzing sound whenever this happens. I
assume that it is updating memory and/or trying to access the network
that isn't connected on my standalone machine. It's very interesting to
review the machine statistics that the machine saves.

Quite a few years ago, my lovely wife got me a used Haywire Slot machine for Christmas and it does the same thing. I believe it's just cleaning out some cashe in its memory and has nothing to do with the play.

I can't help myself. I must ask, "Was she trying to get a message to you?"

This was discussed a few years ago and one person said it was the
machine writing those last 100 hands into its memory, which I've
assumed since.

simply due to a systems check to make sure all systems are performing
correctly.

This is not only correct, but I also have a royal on a delay hand,
thus destroying a popular AC-based legend about the delay function.
It''s also to clear memory, from what I understand.
