What's the cheapest way to get to the Palms from downtown?

I don't know but I know the most expensive way. Take a cab. The cabbie will
ask you where you are from, "Where ya from?" If you say anything other than
"Vegas" then it gets real expensive. You'll find yourself being driven past
the airport and the cabbie commenting, "Gee I don't know why they built the
airport in between the center Strip and downtown. Make any sense to you?" Then
it's into the tunnel with the cabbie pointing out fresh tire marks on the
wall from recent accidents. At the end of the tunnel the Taxicab Police finally
catch up and pull the cabbie over. the cabbie's not even worried. A ten buck
payoff is handed to the Taxi cop and you'll notice both parties are on a
first name basis. If the officer asks the cabbie to step out of the cab it means
he's low on drugs and wants to buy some more. The trunk lid will open for
that. Then onto the 215 and the 15 then off at Trop heading east. The cabbie
stops at the Rebel convenience store at Trop and Koval with the excuse, "I have
to check my tire pressure." Notice the cab is backed into a parking place.
That's a sign for any drug customer in the area that the cab is open for
business. Bingo, a customer walks up, the cabbie gets out and opens the trunk. Now
you're back on the road, Koval heading north. The cabbie pulls into the Sands
convention center Freight door A to sell some more drugs to a bicycle
security guard by way of a prearranged agreement. A few stops later you're downtown
again. The cabbie tells you the fare is $221.44 not counting the tip. You
refuse to pay but... you'll pay. You try to exit the cab but the doors are both
locked. The cab begins to move again right toward the downtown Metro sub
station. A cop walks up to the window to receive his $20 bonus and threatens to
arrest you if you don't pay.
OK, out of towners let's all practice this together. "Where ya from?" You
say "VEGAS! DON'T TAKE THE TUNNEL!"
