Downtown Question

Hi Gang:
Hedy and I will be in Vegas this weekend for a two-night stay and we will
be showing some friends around town. Neither has been in Vegas before so we
want them to see as many of the local sights as they can in two days. We
will have a rental car and are thinking about taking them downtown on Friday
night to see the Fremont Experience light show.
Can anyone help us with a suggestion about parking. Are some casino
parking garages or valets better than others down there? Which ones are the most
convenient ... and safe ... if you want to walk to Fremont Street to see the
show?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Regards,
CoachVee & Hedy

If I were taking friends downtown, I'd probably go to Main Street Station and use their valet parking, have dinner at their buffet (IMHO one of the better buffets in town), then walk out across the street to see the Freemont Street Experience.

I would go the Four Queens self park and stamp your parking ticket at the cage
.
Dinner at hugo's celler is a great choice for old style vegas dinning and check out the
25 cent 10/7 DB progressive.

The Fremont is valet only - no self parking there.

I prefer Four Queens.

My favorite free parking spots (with no validation):

East side of downtown: El Cortez (Back in 2005 there was validation, but no validation for 2+ years now) - 7th street entrance

West side of downtown: Main St Station - the big public lot

Mitchell

It is not a real big thing but if you overstay your FREE parking like I did at the Four Queens. I was less then 5 minutes over the 3 Hrs. FREE parking... I round up paying $1.00 not a big deal but if I had stayed a (1) hour it was like $5.00 and it goes up ,up,and up.

If you are parked at the Four Queens for more than three hours, flag down a slot attendant and have him/her stamp your parking ticket two or three times. Each stamp is good for a free three hour period.

Yes! I got jacked by that free parking, but only once! I had my ticket validated twice during my stay. Both times at the cashier cage. When leaving, I was told that I should have it validated the second time somewhere else besides the cage! Think it cost me a couple of bucks. But guess that adds up over time, right! It's the Vegas Club for me for now.

the four queens is always free, if you have a players card and speak with a slot host. What I hate about the 4 queens garage is their elevator. Its a 1910 variety, slow as molasses, and you never know when its going to break. Last trip I was there , it was out of service and I had to drag my luggage up 4 flights of stairs after checkout.

This would be my suggestion as well. MSS is a fair walk from the FSE, 4Q's is right in the middle. Good VP play all around though--MSS has 9/6 JOB at a great bar. 4Q's has 10/7 progressives in dollars and quarters, and some 9/7 at the bars with multiple progressives that can often be positive, Binion's has 4 really great machines behind the main bar that have 100% Jacks and Bonus, as well as Deuces and 10/7 DB, Fremont has 5 machines of full pay quarter Pick'em (older coin droppers that .only take $20 bills).
