Downtown Boyds/MSS

I stayed at MSS for the first time on a two night postcard offer for
March. Some observations:

My room was smoking, but no stale stench. The shutters don't do a
very good job do they. I liked the smallness and elevators were
quite satisfactory.

Floor people were quite abundant, quick fills, but they don't see you
on the Deuces sometimes for a scratcher.

It looks like cocktailers take breaks without a relief person doing a
couple of rounds.

The Blackchip Porter was my favorite flavor.

They combined my three Boyd accounts successfully, but how hard is it
to add 34+212+3410.

I was written a $20 comp to the Brew Pub and asked if it was enough
after $5k coin-in.

Questions:

What is the point structure for $1 VP?

The Brew Pub does breakfast? What hours?

What time does the slot club day start now? A friendly boothling
said midnight, the database says 4am.

How do they accomadate all of us with only 400 rooms?

I think it is the same as quarters. 1 point per $1 dollar coin in.
1,000 points is $1 cashback or .1 CB.

No breakfast. When I am there I use the MSS buffet or the Market
Street Cafe at the Cal.

Hosts and boothlings have told me it is 4am.

I frequent MSS from out of town quite frequently and would agree with
the answers that Don has given here. I just wanted to add that with
5k coin in per day - you'll be put at silver status which is limited
RFB - gets you all meals at all Boyd Downtown properties except for
the gourmet restaurant (i.e. Pullman Grille at MSS). The Brew Pub is
included. Hook up with a host there - they are all great. At silver
status they'll write you comp for the gourmet places if you ask
(about $90 worth). At 8500 coin in for 3 consecutive trips you'll
move up to Gold status which is full RFB and limo service. They
don't have shows, nor a spa so there really isn't anything else they
can offer you. Hosts are very forthcoming about how their system
works - unlike some other places in town (that start with an 'O' and
are named after a southern US city). Last time I was there, my host
actually printed out reports from their system that showed ALL my
activity, went over it and explained everything to me. Reports show
each day, averages, coin in, coin out, etc. I was shocked when
handed them to me. Didn't think to ask at the time that since they
do track the coin out, if a higher coin out than coin in (winner) has
any affect on comps. I wouldn't know since my records show I'm down
about 600 life to date.

Triple 7 has breeakfast early in the AM, before the buffet opens.

MSS has a lot of locals playing there--we don't need no steenkin rooms.

I've stayed once at MSS as a tourist. The rooms are OK, as are the
shutters. I don't remember either the shutters or the freeway/train
noise being a bother.

The last time I played there I got a $20 scratcher, which was cool.

And mine. 777 is also my favorite brewpub in La Vegas.

On our trip last weekend the midnight v. 4 AM thing was a problem, a
hostess told us midnight, and we thought 4 AM. Ruined our daily
average. Daily average bites.

The scratchcards come in two denominations 5c and 25c. If you are
playing a multi denom at 50c you get the 25c scratcher. Risking
twice as much per hand, but getting the same scratcher bites.

I interpret this to confirm that the slot club day now runs
from midnight to midnight, and I'm so indicating in the
DataBase.

This may have changed when the combined card went
into effect for Cal/Fremont/MSS?

We've tried to keep up on this one over time and haven't heard that they
changed back to midnight from 4 AM.
