anybody play downtown? cal, mss, plaza? just stayed at cal last week and
they seem to have lots of vp poker. i saw some deuces machines. lots of
ddb. i even saw $.50 fpdw at mss. any takes on downtown?

We play regularly @ MSS which is attractive for us as
locals and for visitors also.

I'm not aware of any 50c FPDW @ MSS but will check
it out if you provide location details.

On the database, 25c FPDW is the highest at MSS.

MSS now has .25/.50/1 10/7 DB on MG/MD machines, coinless ...
Also has progessive banks with BP (one side .50 and the other $)
that sometimes goes positive.

good buffet and great bewpub.
$10K coin in gets you Gold card status. RFB at any MSS/Cal/Freemont
resturant/bar + suite + Limo service to and from airport. Rooms
aren't that great though they are remodeling and I will check it out
this weekend when I go. I hope they ditch the stupid shutters that
let in light.

At MSS I can't stand the highway traffic on the north side.
The suites are all on the north side but I put on the Heat/Cooling
system and that generates enought "white noise."

Hosts are accessible at the players club and on the floor. My top
is Ipo but Brenda, who is new in the past two years, is coming into
her own and a terrific host. Gloria is matter of fact, but I fondly
recall her getting me a room when they were sold out four years ago
and I had never stayed there.

The Cal has some FP DW .25 and the Freemont has .25 pick'em & JOB
and DDB so you have a ton of variety.

Good Luck,

Jeff (Boston)

i thought i saw one in front of the entrance to the
buffet. and i think i saw another in fron to the
cashier cage. i could be wrong, please verify. also
they have lots of jokers wild nickels, and 25cents.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but nowadays, under their theo
loss comp system, $10k/day at MSS will get you Gold card status ONLY
if you play a lot of negative games. My most recent experience has
been that, if you play only positive or near positive games, you
will be lucky if they give you Silver status. Others have reported
similar treatment. So beware.

Also, based on recent reports, all the FPDW at the Cal is now MIA.
This sad fact is also reflected in the vpfree database. Just wanted
to save anyone from wasting time looking for them.

I play DB at MSS and was told last week that I need $16000 to $18000
coin in a day to retain Gold status.

The place has become quite popular, but we think for that much play it
is overvaluing itself. If memory is correct, it was easier comps were
one thing that got the place attention. It is a pretty casino.

I agree that this is far too high. We have been gold card for several years. Our last trip there (before we became locals) we found none of the restaurants to be very good. And although the rooms were always fine for us they certainly were not glamorous.

Combining this with the extremely rude cigar smokers (which were there the last two trips), and loss of the ".25 based FPDW" we just determined that it wasn't worth it to us to try and maintain gold card status.

Vpfree is still showing 6 machines with quarter FPDW. Do you believe this is not correct?

There are 5/6 FPDW and yes they are .25 BUT they pay points at 1/2 the rate since they are "nickel based machines. Thus even if you are playing .25 you get points as if .05
The ones that were .25 based are now NSUD

I don't count the the loss of .05 in EV as too much of a loss given that the
base game is 100.7, unless, of course, there is a significant point
multiplier.

Well then Chandler... you will be happy!!!! LOL

When I had the 6 times multiplier I did start to notice the difference.

But you are right, the difference is miniscule.
