downgrade

I know very few people on here play video poker on the strip, but for years I have stayed at Flamingo and done a lot of video poker playing at Casino Royale. I earn food comps really fast there and I like to eat at Dennys for breakfast.

They have always had full pay "bonus poker". While I was there last week I noticed they had most of there machines "out of service" one night as I was leaving. The next day I checked and they had downgraded the bonus poker to 7-5 instead of 8-5.

The best video poker I found on the strip was at Circus Circus, on the Aces and Eights machines. I was able to recover most of my losses on my third day there while playing for several hours. In about 5 hours I hit Aces twice, eights once, sevens, and numerous other 4 of a kinds.

Overall I had a good trip. I came back home with half of my money, and that is a "winning" trip for me as it is a vacation. My rooms were comped at Flamingo. I did not give them much play because their blackjack table limit is higher than I am comfortable with, and they never have any good video poker at the level I play.

That's unfortunate to hear. I really like Casino Royale, but I often played 98.91% DW44 there instead because they offered it for as cheap as pennies. Who knows if they downgraded that as well. Yeah the best on the strip is the 8/5 Aces and Eights at Circus Circus, but it's $2.50 a round. 9/6 JoB also exists at NYNY for quarters (no comps). Also good VP and good food available at Ellis Island one block east of Bally's. Also good VP available at Gold Coast and Palms, which can be shuttled to pretty easily from the strip.

I must have arrive at Casino Royale one day after Vicki left. On Day 1, I found one bank of single line machines near the food court that still had 8-5 BP. The next morning, even those machines had been downgraded to 7-5.

I looked at a few Deuces paytables but saw only the 12-10 version. I did not do an exhaustive search, but I expect that management also has taken out all the 15-9 Deuces.

At least one bank of multi-line machines still had 8-5 BP when I left, but those machines are not eligible for any of CR's promotions, most notably the coupons for bonus payouts on quads.
