Double Points Day

Perhaps some have wondered that why is the 2x points( as others before it) day only good till midnight when the gaming day doesn't expire till 6 A.M. ?
  The answer I received( take it for what its worth), is that the computers have set the expiration of such promos at midnight along with the daily rating of a player, that a host looks at when he,she punches in your card number. However, I was told, and honestly can't understand it, that the 6 AM cutoff is still used for FP, meal coupons etc.
  I wonder how this can be so if the computer has any play after midnight as a "new day"? This doesn't make any sense to me. I think that the gaming day is now from midnight till 11:59 P.M.

Is this part of the new software fiasco of a few months ago?

The software fiasco?

I had an offer for free play (much less than in the past of course) for April 30 but it would not show. The boothling could not figure it out either. She called my host who authorized a slightly larger amount. I lost it and a lot more. But it was never figured out why I got a card with no free play showing on the date. It was nowhere near 6 am or midnight.
