Double Pay video poker games --- What can you share about them?

One of the games included in those All Star vp machines is called
Double Pay where a dealt Royal Flush pays 60,000 credits. Available
vp games I've seen so far are 9/7 Double Bonus, 9/5 Double Double
Bonus, 9/5 Triple Double Bonus , and a short pay version of Deuces
Wild and the choice is 3-Play, 5-Play, and 10-Play (Multi-Denom).

What do you think of the Double Pay?
Is this a good game to play or not?

Last weekend I tried the 5-Play DDB (.25 cents) and for beginner's
luck, it dealt me 4 Aces (where's that kicker when you needed it?),
held them and the machine gave me 2 hands with the kicker.

I then tried the 10-Play TDB (.05 cents this time) and it dealt me 4
to a Royal at least 3 times in one of those 10 hands (close but no
cigar).

Appreciate your inputs!

Thanks.
Gilbert

A few years ago my husband was playing at Terribles. He was playing
10 play Double Pay in the 2 cent version. He was dealt the royal.
$2000 payoff. A few days later on way to airport we stopped back, he
sat down and proceeded to AGAIN get dealt the royal for another $2000.

I played multi-play 9/7 DB Double Pay a lot on my last trip. I did
get a royal, but I feel it had nothing to do with the initial deals.
Let me explain.

My short-term observation is that you rarely get a big "hit" off the
initial deal. True, anyone anywhere can be dealt a four-of-a-kind.
But in those rare cases, this game only pays 500 vs. the 250 you
would get anyway. If the initial deal payoffs were dramatically
higher, it would be worth the "down" times where you get nothing
back. I did get a dealt full house once in a blue moon for 200 coins.
But, in general, the imitial deal during my short-term
experience didn't prolong my play or lead to any big payoffs.

There is a fantasy in players' minds with Double Pay and multi-play
games in general that you will be dealt something wonderful and make
lots of money. We all recall those experiences (I was dealt four
deuces with a kicker on a TDB 5-play just last week). It is equally
important to keep in mind the more common occurrence - being
initially dealt a hand of five mixed unmatched cards and scratching
your head.

I occasionally play the game at the Rampart. Same bad DDB paytable in
Triple Play nickel denom, so I only risk $30. Best dealt hand this
year is quad Aces with a kicker on the top line; I think it was 5000
nickels. Another time, I drew to one Royal.

Long ago on a standard Double Pay machine, I was dealt a Royal on the
middle line for $3000. So the hook was set, but the game kind of
disappeared until the ASP machines came out.

I don't know if it's a "good" game to play, but I enjoy the battle.

If you want to try Double Pay out, go to www.videopoker.com You can
play it on that site all you want for free. You need to register with
the website but it is very reputable. That web site has most all the
videopoker games in the casinos.
