Double Down Feature

Here is the Wizard's comment in a April 2002 Q and A:

It is my understanding that all IGT Game King platforms have the double up
option in those grey buttons in the bottom row of touch screen buttons. I would
imagine it would be a casino policy or more likely the whim of the
floorperson to enable/disable this option.

MY experience goes back to old skinny upright Bonus 8/5 quarter single line
games in the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall. Mom liked to do double-ups, so we
always had sessions playing these two side-by-sides. They used to be on the
south short wall in Sassy Sue's Saloon overlooking the river.

My double-up algorithm was more conservative than hers. I doubled under the
following conditions:

1) A Razgu (toss all five cards) that resulted in a paying hand started a
Martingale. Keep increasing the double-ups by one if you won, else start over at
one double-up.

2) Any draw that only started with saved Aces that resulted in a winning
improved hand had to be doubled-up, in 'x' number of times. Save a lone Ace and
end up with a pair-once. End up with a 3 OAK twice. Quad Aces were excluded.

So it was just for fun. Mom played the once is enough algorithm on all
hands, but would draw the line about straights/flushes. A Double-up full house was
beyond her gamble.

This double up topic has been discussed many times on this forum in the
almost 5 years of the forum's existance. Hopefully the search option works alot
better nowadays. I am not sure how far back the archives go. A couple years
ago the original, and now emeritus administrator, went to routinely culling
crappy threads from the archives to give the forum more room. This storage issue
has not been visited in awhile. No wonder he gave up the title of Grand Bupba.

This is a good suggestion-reminder. I never thought of doing a
message search before asking the question. I received some good
answers to my post. However, if I had searched "double down"" I
might not have posted my original question. Yes, I NOW have search
and found much of what I originally needed.
I am not alone in failing to use this group correctly. I do not
get upset when I see some questions asked that are simply in the
database. I really appreciate the patience of some of the more
experience group members for some of my questions. Thanks for the
suggestion and the reference to "Wizardof odds".
