One of the Optimum play banks at Texas Station included a game I don't
remember ever seeing before. I believe it was labelled Double Bonus
Plus. The game seems to based on on a 9/6 DDB pay scale --- with the
need for a kicker removed. Instead, "Adjacent" quad Aces return 2000
coins; adjacent 2-3-4s return 800 coins, and four 5-Ks return 200
coins. (I can't recall if adjacent quad 5-K paid anything more.)
Because the game is part of the Optimum inventory, I assume the overall
return is over 100%. Is anyone in the group familiar with this game?
Double Bonus Plus
Jaywilly240 asked about Double Bonus Plus.
I saw the game more than a year ago at Orleans, thought it was
interesting, ran the analysis, and asked IGT if they wanted an article
about the game in Strictly Slots. They told me no. The game had been
included in a certain generation of machines but due to lack of
popularity had already been pulled from current machines. I suggested
that an article on the game could generate interest and it would be
easier to bring back a game already passed by gaming than it would be to
bring out a new game, but basically they weren't interested.
I ended up publishing a writeup about the game in my Tuesday online
column. If you're interested, it may be found at

Thanks. Your article cleared up ppretty much all my startegy
questions. And I agee --- the game does seem to offer an interesting
change of pace. Given the popularity of DDB, I'm a little surprised
the DB+ mutation hasn't caught on.
