I recently returned from a Vegas trip and visited Majestic before
cashing in my traveller's cheques at a bank, thinking that cashing
them in at MS is a no-brainer. It completely threw the wrench in the
works. When I presented the cheques they looked at me as if I was a
Martian invader. The cheques and my drivers license had to be
scrutinized by no less than 3 levels of supervisory personnel. It
didn't occur to some folks that Illinois license renewals are now
implemented via a sticker rather than reissuing the license. By the
time I received my cash over a half hour had gone by. So if you're
ever contemplating doing this - DONT! Strive to make things as simple
as possible.
When I pointed out to someone that even without a sticker my license
was a valid ID they indicated that it was not and that the transaction
could not be made in that case. The casino should care who I am, but
why they would care if Illinois has me licensed to drive a car is a
mystery to me.
