I rented from Dollar 2x last year and it was a horrible experience
both times as the wait each time was in the hour range. I was
implored by others to join Fastlane.........
When I was planning my trip for April of this year (in March), I
again booked with Dollar (the rates were considerably better than
anyone elses), and then attempted (key word) to join Fastlane
online. I got a message back saying Fastlane was having some updates
made to it, so joining was not possible at that time. The message
also promised to contact me by email when I could join. Several
weeks went by and nothing.... So, I went back online and got the
same "updating" message. I called Dollar to attempt (key word again)
joining Fastlane via phone. No dice. Only way to join Fastlane is
online or live. April came and I went to Vegas... got to Dollar and
went to the Fastlane line (there was no one in it) to attempt (key
word) to join. No dice. I was given the wrong information on the
phone - you can only join Fastlane online, and yes, they were
still "updating" it and not accepting any new memberships. Waited in
the hour-long line for the third trip in a row....
It has now been 4 months since I "attempted" to join Fastlane and I
have not received an email saying that memberships are once again
being accepted. I have not tried to join online again. Dollar IS
cheaper, but, IMHO, the service SUCKS.
