Dollar or Alamo faster for the Raster?

Rastis will be in town later this month to celebrate his 50th
Birthday and the fact that he is now retirement eligible! The
following are the Rastis rental car options. Both rentals are for a
week and are intermediate/mid-size cars. Which offer would you take?

Dollar (Fastlane) $182.25

Alamo (Blue Chip)$194.46

Both quotes are final price, including all fees and taxes. Rastis
has used Alamo/National often and is familiar with their location etc.
No real problems to report.

Rastis has not used Dollar Las Vegas, but Dollar seems to be the
first choice of this group. How does the pick-up/drop-off compare to
Alamo? Is the Fastlane faster than the Blue Chip?

I used to use Alamo Quicksilver , I have tried Thrifty Bluechip, I now use Dollar Fastlane exclusively. It is the fastest of the three.
The only service that I have used that is better is Hertz #1 club gold, but they are way more expensive than Dollar, and are only minimally better.

I find FastLane and Blue Chip quicker and easier than Alamo's
Quicksilver. I generally rent a car off of SWAirlines car rental
page. There you can see the prices of many companies on one page and
they are always good prices. I always book as soon as I know I am
going on a trip, and then check back about once a week to see if
prices have changed. If the prices go down I re-book and if they go
up, I don't (Duh) Most of the time the best price is either Dollar or
Thrifty. I am a member of Fastlane at Dollar and Blue Chip at Thrifty
and don't stand in lines. I just got back from 10 days in California
and Nevada and I had the best bargain on a car I have ever gotten.
SWAirlines car rental page showed the same price at Thrifty ($13 per
day plus add-ons) for either a compact, mid-size or full-size. I
booked the full size of course, which would be a Dodge Intrepid, and
when the shuttle driver dropped me off he said "Anything from row G".
There sat a 2005 Chrysler 300 Touring Edition and I told my
wife "Let's see if we can get out with this". It worked and we did 10
days and 2000 miles in California and Nevada in this wonderful car.

Hi there

I too will be in Vegas, but not untill Sept. I reserved about a week
ago and things may have changed since then. Also, you are a shorter
time till travel so things seem to get more expensive for your
travel. When I reserved the full size cars at Dollar were less
expensive the the intermediate. I think weekly rate was 169.00 at
airport with all taxes etc. Also I think senior rate starts at 50
years old and depending on when your birthday is you could net a 5%
discount.
Might be worth checking. May save a roll of quarters or two.

My wife and I just came back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago.

There were these long lines at Alamo, Dollar, etc. We noticed a company called SAVMOR, which was not doing any business at all. We asked why, and all thier cars were manual transmission. That was it!! We quickly got a nice Hyundai Accent compact, and in addition, a 20% discount on our next rental. I highly recommend it, especially if you like going under everyone else's radar!!

Well, he has not made it yet, but Rastis is optimistic he can hold on until
July 28. Rastis has lowered his rate thanks to Dollar Code LVCOM and will
roll out for $166.60

AP your recommendation is all Rastis needs. Code LVCOM got me an even lower
rate of $166.60. I hear that it was as low as $166.60 last week.

WOW, Rastis can't wait to turn nifty fifty. Boomtown in Shreveport will now
give him breakfast for a couple of bucks too! When I pick up, I will still
be a pup. But when I return, I will be a card carrying member of AARP!

I have been renting from Thrifty for the past couple of years --
rates have been lower than Alamo or Dollar. I usually go through
rentalcars.com and pick up 5% discount as well.
