Dollar FPDW

Years ago I visited the Golden Nugget in Laughlin a lot, because they
had a lot of 25 cent FPDW machines. That was my favorite game.

I haven't been in a casino for quite a while now. Life has been
busy. And anyway, the large number of Indian casinos infesting San
Diego county do not have any "full pay" video poker machines. And I
am suspicious of the RNG bias of machines outside of Nevada anyway.

I recently was in Las Vegas at a convention. I checked at
the "survey" listings here first, and while in L.V. I took a quick
tour through the Gold Coast before I left. Gold Coast is listed here
as having FPDW, but I didn't see any there. I didn't wander through
the entire place, and likely simply missed where they were.

Does anyone know of one dollar FPDW around town in Las Vegas? Or
Laughlin for that matter? I'd also be interested to learn if the 25
cent FPDW machines are still at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin. I
haven't been there in a long time.

About twenty years ago there were three one dollar FPDW machines at
Binion's Horseshoe on Fremont St. They were even better than that,
paying 1190-to-5 for four-deuces! (Just under the tax line). I
seriously doubt they are still there after all this time.

Are you sure your name isn't Wilma?

Just kidding = you are from the age of the
dinosaurs.

Hey Norma-
Great subject line! I'll bet everyone checked your post first.

Welcome back to the VP world. I'm no long-timer, maybe 6 yrs "into"
it, but you can tell a lot has changed. IF there is $1 FPDW anywhere,
it's a guarded secret. Despite the democracy of vpFree, seems like
most $1 and up games over 100% EV are rare and are not often shared.
If it's a single machine, it's likely a casino mistake and the risk of
'outing' it to the casino management makes it less likely to be
publicized here.

That being said, in LV there are 6 casinos in the cross-directory with
$1 Loose DW which is >100%. Also many places listed with 10/7 DB and
10/6 DDB at $1 denom, some with prog RFs, if you are flexible with
your game choice.

And El Cortez and Western have $1 KBJW which is well over 100%.

As the pool of positive games shrinks, you MIGHT get the impression
that the fish here are getting nastier. Could be, but there are plenty
of polite folks around, maybe they just don't post as often.

I play only in Reno, and when the Silver Legacy added 50c & $1 FPDW a
few years back on 8-12 machines, the "play" lasted for 4 months and
machines were rarely full. Either the pros got their fill or they
don't like to travel. Alas, the main full-pay that's left in Reno is
25c extra full-pay KBJW (20/7/4700) on about 6 machines at Silver
Legacy. 10/7 DB is around many places, 10/6 DDB has become rare, and
FPDW is gone, where I go anyhow.

For deuces players, the trend has been to embrace NSUD and play where
cashback or comps take the play up to positiveland. Or be happy
playing 25c FPDW (in LV) and staying beneath the W-2G IRS radar

Hope you can find the time to tell some tales of the good old days,
there's always room for nostalgia posts. Nostalgia just ain't what it
used to be.

Cheers,

~MARK

Hi Norma!

If you're interested in visiting Laughlin, log on to the
vpFREELaughlin site for the latest info. I believe that the
Edgewater and the Colorado Belle still offer FPDW in quarters only.
Laughlin is lots of fun and still offers a good gamble to VP players.

We might have been playing side by side at Binions 20 years ago! I
remember the row upon row of green glass screens, on the old coin-
droppers offering .25c FPDW. I also remember the dollar deuces,
though that denom. was too strong for me to play back in those days.

Of course the dollar FPDW was a GREAT game for those who played it.
Unfortunately, twenty (and more) years ago, most of us didn't know
the proper strategy, and no information or software was available to
teach us. Therefore, I'm sure that the casino hold was significant
enough to permit them to offer those great positive games.

VP is still very enjoyable for me, even though I have to do more
scouting to find a really good opportunity these days in LV.

Regards,
~Babe~

henderson still have half dollar(10-coin qtrs.)soon all forms of fpdw
will evaporate, mostly in part to the round the clock bombardment by BDC
and VPfree fleas. Silverton was the latest victom; surprised those
machines lasted as long as they did.

Unfortunatly all $fpdw have been burned down.i beleive some dives in

Sam's Town has a bank of about 8 FPDW in the area near the buffet and
movie theatre. There is a bank of sit downs, four to each side and
they're back to back that also include full pay DB and DDB.

My friend in Calif. goes there all the time since I've introduced him
to these machines. As a matter of fqact, he's going there on May 12th.
Not only has he hit four deuces on these machine over and over, he's
hit a few Royal Flushes on these machines.

Sam's Town is pretty good with comps and will give you free rooms
after you've played there a couple of times and send you a postcard
giving you free rooms for two or three nights every month with either
free buffets or coffee shop credits. My friend only played there twice
before he started getting these offers.

I think on these full pay machines, you have to put in $2 to get one
point credit on your players card.

I think the subject was $1 FPDW.

The FPDW at Sam's Town is 5c 10-coin and 25c. Lots of other places
have 25c FPDW. Skyline and Rainbow are listed in the database as
having 25c 10-coin FPDW, which is same as 50c.

Coincidentally - Silver Legacy in Reno just re-added their 25c FPDW on
6 machines, albeit slow speed, lowered comp-earning meter uprights.

So, I was surfin the Gulf states Casino database and stumbled upon
this Cruise ship gem:

···

===============================================
http://members.cox.net/vp_free/S_STER.htm

FPDW (100.7%)

(2) $1 MG to the right side off the escalator on the 3rd floor, near
the far end of the floor.

(2) $1 MG directly opposite the change booth on the 4th floor.

20/7 JW (100.6%)

(2) $1 MG to the right side off the escalator on the 3rd floor, near
the far end of the floor.

(6) $1 MG on the 3rd deck.

(2) $1 MG directly opposite the change booth on the 4th floor.

If Cape Canaveral is within your travel circle, and you trust the
RNG-ness of unregulated cruise ship video poker machines, this 5-hour
cruise will get you your $1 FPDW and the added option of $1 FPKBJW.

Maybe somebody cares to comment on this cruise from experience?
