Doing CZR Great Race

Hi Gang,

Wife and I have decided to do a 8-9 day road trip and secure our $750 per person in
comps from the Great Race promotion. I am mid-level diamond, wife is gold. We
secured comped rooms in all venues except Joliet and St. Louis.

What I would like to ask the group for is any information they could provide for
the following casinos we will be visiting:

Cleveland....Windsor....Joliet....St. Louis....Metropolis....Elizabeth.

We have already done AC and Philly, so by doing the above we will have our
15 points. We do not intend to play more than the required 25 tier points per person
playing the best .25 cent VP available. So let's hear your views on the above casinos,
restaurants, best vp, diamond lounges, nearby must sees and do's, etc.

I thank you all in advance for your time and consideration.

Joliet has a nice diamond lounge. Example: tomorrow they have Italian beef sandwich, tues. they have pulled pork sandwich. they usually have a fruit cobbler and they do have soft serve ice cream and a beverage station so you can have either sundaes or floats. They also have lettuce salad and usually another choice of salad. I
They have 8/5 double double in quarters. Pay tables aren't the greatest. They do have a $1 double double progressive that is 9/6. If you go on facebook to Harrahs Joliet, click on exclusive offers...buy one get one free for Paula Deen buffet Mon thru Thurs. Also a $20 prime rib dinner in steak house, good Tues, Wed. You might have to "like" the page.

We happen to visit Metropolis yesterday (to early for the race). Was very disappointed. I thought Joliet had bad pay tables. Nothing worth playing. they do have a short pay progressive quarter bank on the 2nd floor. I think the better pay tables was actually at the bar on the 2nd flr. Yesterday (Sat) we went into the Diamond lounge and they don't serve any food till 5:30. And then it looked like it would just be horderves......But there is a giant Superman a few blocks from Harrahs. If you plan to eat there... over in the hotel there is a stand with tourist info. There was a little magazine Adventure along the Ohio River. It had a big pic of Superman on it. There is a buy one get one free for the buffet at Harrahs.

Windsor has Pickem 2-3-5-(can't remember if its 10 or 11)-15-18-100-200-2000 at $1. These are next to the pit not far from the high limit areas. Playing one coin with reduced royals is still better than anything offered at the 25 cent level. I believe the Diamond lounge requires half Seven Stars in order to gain enterance.

It is 11. However, the machine requires $80 coin-in for one base reward credit. Therefore, you would have to play 2,000 hands at the one credit level to earn 25 points. The return is 98.95% for one credit, so the expected loss is $21. If you can't afford to play $5/hand, I wouldn't bother with it. It's be easier to earn your points playing a table game like Spanish 21, baccarat, or craps for 1-1.5 hours (how I earned my points).

The Diamond Lounge in Metropolis is also surprisingly nice with very good dinner service. The DL in Elizabeth is mediocre -- try the restaurants or buffet instead. St. Louis DL has a nice buffet.

Windsor has Pickem 2-3-5-(can't remember if its 10 or 11)-15-18-100-200-2000 at $1. These are next to the pit not far from the high limit areas. Although not the main point of the post and reply, when you play FP Pick'em at less than 5 coin, it is not just the Royal that is shorted, but also the straight flush as well as fours of a kind.

Royal 5 Coin = 6,000 or 1,200 per coin; 1 Coin pays 1,000 (short pay of 200 per coin).

Straight Flush 5 coin = 1,199 or 240+- per coin; 1 Coin pays 200 (short pay of 40 per coin).

4 of a Kind 5 coin = 600 or 120 per coin; 1 coin pays 100 (short pay of 20 per coin).

I can under certain circumstances understand playing only one coin, but at an eastern US Casino, it used to amaze me that quite a few regular players (that were otherwise bright people) often used to play 3 and even 4 coin rather than 5 at this game with short pay in three categories when they played less than 5 coin.

Any good VP at Horseshoe, Council Bluff's Iowa? Wife and I are visiting friend's in Omaha this summer, and we're going to a concert there. We may as well earn the 25 point's while were on the property anyway.
Thanks.
