Does Dreamcard Give You The Best Draw?

Was this in an actual casino? The videopoker.com version of Dream Card is very inaccurate. (Had the exact same thing happen on almost the exact same hand. Ah, 4h, 5h, 10c, DC but playing TDB.) That same site, playing deuces, I was dealt As, Qs, Js, 7h, DC and up popped the 2s. That is worth about 1/5 of the Ks or 10s as the DC. That site has had other problems with the games. I have not looked lately at Spin Poker Double Pay but the ten cards that appear on the top and bottom of the "deal" hand were not available on the draw. If the problem came up in the casino it is a very serious problem as the advertising promises the best possible card.

Back in December in one his columns BoB Dancer made the following statement: "I've played the game for many hours and I've never seen a case where the DC isn't perfect --- or at least tied for being the best".

So when I played the game and thought I saw a Dreamcard draw that wasn't even close I copied it down. Perhaps I was missing something.

The game was 9/6 DDB Ten Play. The dealt hand was: 4 Hearts, 2 Hearts, A Hearts, 6 Diamonds, and the Dreamcard.

I waited for the 3 (or 5) of Hearts to appear so I would be drawing to a 4 card inside straight flush. It's worth over $2.35 as a starting hand in 9/6DDB.

But the machine (which supposedly always makes the correct choice) instead selected the Ace of Diamonds.

I changed the card manually (which Dreamcard allows you to do) to the 3 of Hearts. I drew a few flushes (no SF) and lost money on my 100 coin investment which is pretty much how my luck ran on that machine that day.

I later checked to make sure I wasn't underestimating the value of a pair of Aces as a starting hand in 9/6 DDB. No, it's worth less than $2. And I'm sure Bob Dancer isn't giving away 40 cents or so on any VP hand.

So, I would appreciate any of you out there explaining my mistake. Because if I didn't make one, we all better start playing Dreamcard a little more carefully.
