For casinos like the Palms that factors in average daily play, does
cashing in comps or swiping for entries in drawings "start the clock
ticking"? I've always assumed that if you don't gamble at all on days
where you cash in comps or swipe for entries, that doesn't count
against you. I'd hate to discover that on those days, I'm getting a
$0 that weighs against all my other days of high average coin-in...
Does cashing in comps and not playing affect daily average?
In my experience at the Palms, I "think" but am not absolutely positive:
Using comps or swiping for entries doesn't seem to affect your daily average. Neither does cashing a check even though they swipe your card.
Picking up postcard offers DOES count as a "day." I was told by someone in marketing that they track that to see how successful a promotion is. And since we no longer pick those up, our BB has been much higher.
I'm not sure about free Megabucks pull - they swipe your card into the computer. We don't do them on a day we aren't playing, just in case. (Beside, Brad says he likes his life the way it is and doesn't want any life-changing jackpot!!)

We just had some detailed discussions with a Marketing person at
Harrahs because my wife stopped getting most offers recently. What it
came down to is that Harrahs (and most likely some other casinos)
counts everyday that they 'see' your card as a trip. So the times we
went and ate, or cashed a coupon, or just went to check on
progressives, all count as a $0 'trip' and reduced her trip average.
