Does anyone care about the sounds of VP?

The reason I ask is that the Suncoast is currently replacing the slot
card readers in all of its machines, and for some reason, a large
number of machines that have been completed have no sound (at least
for now), which of course included my favorite machines. I enjoy the
sounds of VP, especially when a good hand connects (even if it is not
mine).

Does anyone else seek out machines with good sound? Or for that
matter, does anyone play only silent machines?

I have noticed the same same thing at the Suncoast---you can ask a
slot person to put the sounds back on. I don't think it has anything
to do with the new card system, they always seem to have a large
number of machines without the sounds.

I do not like a silent VP machine either. Sometimes if am pulling for
a ace(Various Bonus poker games) or a Duece( Dueces wild games) I like
to look away and listen to the sounds to see if I caught the right
card. You can't do this on a silent machine

Definitely! When my husband and I are playing we always listen for
each other's machines to "DINK!" indicating a paying hand dealt or
the "doodle-oodle-oodle....." (the longer the better) of the finished
hand. And I must add that the "DINK!" has saved me more than once
from accidentally tossing a paying hand when playing in a little haze
from lack of sleep or a couple too many adult beverages.

I'm in agreement with most of both of these posts. I've also been
saved, by the "ding", from whiffing away a winning hand. However, I
must admit that, when there are no sounds or indications on the
screen of a dealt winner, that I tend to concentrate more, and play
by rote less.

Also, I dislike a VERY loud machine. If I'm playing one that is
giving me a headache due to the high decibel level, I always either
move or ask a floor person to turn down the sound.

Ah yes, the DINK.......

My buddies and I often refer to several pat hands in this way; "Hey, I just got a flush on the DINK", Or "I sure wish I could get a good hand on the DINK".

The best one was when my wife casually remarked that I had a "loud DINK today"........

It was probably that flush that made your DINK loud

Ah yes, the DINK.......

I must be getting old...I remember when DINK meant "double income no
kids" usually in reference to a yuppie couple.

Don the Dink...er...Dentist

I like the sounds, and am in fact annoyed when I sit at a machine that doesn't make any noise. It's part of the experience. Even the click of the cards coming up.....It just doesn't feel right playing without it.

Loved the "Old West" sounds on Silicon Gaming's Multi-Draw Poker. The
various sound effects and little tunes were just part of their
wonderful and unique graphical interface. (Silicon Gaming's Chief
Technology Officer was Allan Alcorn, who co-founded Atari and
invented "Pong".)Too bad Action Gaming's patents were so good.

And there was that old machine at Trump World's Fair that would play
the ENTIRE Hallelujah Chorus for a hand pay.

AND the first video poker machine I ever saw (in the stone age of VP)
played a clunky funeral dirge while a primitive animated figure
walked to "boot hill" every time you lost a hand. It probably needed
the whole five seconds to compute the next draw.
