Howdy

I know being positive makes for a clearer head and therefore you play
better. Does anyone believe that positive thinking can make you a winner at
the
casino?

Congratulations on the royal - I've been playing for years, although not as heavily as most on this board, and ALL my royals but one have been to three-card holds, never to a four-card, never to a two-card, once to a one-card hold, and never dealt - so I understand your frustration / joy combination at finally getting one, but not when you felt like you most "deserved" it.

I think being lucky makes you think positively.

Interestingly, when I played blackjack and counted cards, I was always happiest when the count was "positive" (favoring the player), because I knew the odds were in my favor -- and I expected to win, even when the cards didn't run in my favor as they were supposed to. And when I "ran well" with a "negative" deck where I knew the house had the edge (thus, when I was lucky), I always felt undeserving.

I'm not sure how that answers the question, but it's an interesting situation.

I do agreee with those who say that a negative attitude can lead to more errors, and certainly to less enjoyment. Beyond that, I don't believe in people being lucky or unlucky, while it's obvious, at the same time, that some people do have lucky periods in their play, and unlucky periods in their play - but NOT because THEY are lucky / unlucky - it's just the word we use when chance exercises its expected variations.
