Do You Trust Indian Casinos?

I personally wouldn't spend a nickel in any unregulated casino. As many others have stated, I completely trust Nevada Gaming and that the games in Nevada casinos are fair and unmodified. I also lived in Colorado and played there for six years with the same complete trust. Anyone who doesn't trust the games shouldn't be playing at all.

As I've posted MANY times before, NO casino in the US is unregulated. Indian
casinos are often regulated by 3 agencies, Nevada by 1.

Regulators do not conduct or publish audits. Audits of Harrah's, Stations,
M, or any other privately held casino company are not published, either.

No one said anything about regulators' audits. The question is which Indian casinos conduct certified audits. A subsequent question would be to whom they are given and then what is done with them. What do you believe would be achieved by seeing the public accountants opinion as to the fairness of a casino's financial statements.

CPAs do not testify for the randomness or nonrandomness of a VP machine. They are just concerned if the revenue from that machine is being appropriately accounted for.

Transparency. Although as we all know too well, public reports do not guarantee integrity, they are a farsight better than no reports. No Indian casinos submit * SEC Form 424B3 "*pursuant to the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995," as the cited HET continues to do, or issue up-to-date Forms 8-K and 10-K, as HET aslo continues to do.The public and its representatives have a deep interest in what financials casinos report. HET even boasts a detailed and informative 24-slide presentation for investors.

Correct. That is why responsible jurisdictions like Nevada and New Jersey test and continually oversee slot machines. Which Indian casinos have objective and impartial inspectors doing that?

From a gambler's perspective visiting an Indian casino, what is the "deep interest" that I should have in the financial statements of an Indian casino?

What kind of transparency should I be looking for and what information will that tell me about their adhering to the gaming regulations for their location or making me a better video poker player?

Harrahs only continues to file publicly disclosed information with the SEC because they have publicly traded debt. I am confident that if they had no publicly traded debt, there would be little public disclosure of their financial statements.

How about every Class III casino in California? Many other states include
such tests in their compacts. Also, Federal law requires tribes with
compacts to submit audited financial statements to NIGC.

As I just said in another response, the NIGC requires audited financial
statements from all tribes with compacts.

Harrahs has to submit highly detailed reports to Nevada and New
Jersey. That is more than satisfactory to me. Where do the Indian
casinos file such reports?

Then why are they not available through FOIA?

Correct. That is why responsible jurisdictions like Nevada and New
Jersey test and continually oversee slot machines. Which Indian casinos
have objective and impartial inspectors doing that?

No one said anything about regulators' audits. The question is which
Indian casinos conduct certified audits. A subsequent question would be
to whom they are given and then what is done with them. Lacking that
information has long been a problem for public opinion about Indian
casinos, as we are seeing here now.

If they are not I'd presume that because the tribes are sovereign they are
exempt. Also, remember that they would not be able to finance construction
without audited statements.

Depends on the compact, but they have to send some information to the
Federal Gov't and to their State. If they are Class II without a compact
they have few reporting obligations.

Harrahs has to submit highly detailed reports to Nevada and New
Jersey. That is more than satisfactory to me. Where do the Indian
casinos file such reports?

What kind of transparency should I be looking for and what information
will that tell me about their adhering to the gaming regulations for
their location or making me a better video poker player?

Harrahs only continues to file publicly disclosed information with the
SEC because they have publicly traded debt. I am confident that if
they had no publicly traded debt, there would be little public
disclosure of their financial statements.
