Do casino hosts give you the correct answer as to what it takes to qualify?

What has been your experiences when asking a casino host as to what
will it take to get: certain promotions, offers in mail etc that you
would like to continue to get? I've read that often casino hosts don't
know that much about promotions and rather want you to spend the most
during your visit.

A lot is going to depend upon your level of play and how long your host has been around.

Most hosts get hired for their personality; not for their business acumen or ability to analyze offers or your play in order to help you maximize your profits.

In this environment, many hosts do not know the details of offers nor why someone gets an offer or does not. They are just trained to look at their computer and see what the computer says you are entitled to.

I'll add to kelso's remarks:

Most promotions/mailers are generated against specific threshold for
house theoretical win. That win varies with machine type. Your host
doesn't typically have insider information on how a given machine is
rated, therefore while they might know your overall rating, they have
little idea how much additional play might upgrade your offers. Plus,
in most cases they don't know anything about the thresholds
themselves, leaving them that much more in the dark.

Where there are fixed guidelines, such as at what level RFB is
offered, I've had strong hosts who've shared intelligence. However,
beyond that, it's a hit or miss operation and generally you can look
for hosts to be in the dark.

It's best to feel out each host for what they most readily can offer
up and take maximum advantage of that ... and promptly backing off on
those things for which they're not forthcoming.

Along those lines I'm not afraid to ask a host on a VERY selective
basis if I can be included in a promotion that otherwise wasn't
offered to me, but has been offered to players whose play doesn't lie
substantially above mine. (Or for inclusion of my wife in a promo I
received, but she didn't.) Whatever the answer, I make it clear that
I'm extraordinarily appreciative that they took the time to
investigate the matter.

I was told by a higher-up that the ONLY advantage of having a BORGATA host is that you can talk to them on the phone instead of the casino. They can not offer you anything you are not scheduled to get.
