Vicki, there are lots of folks (including me), who love Harrahs.
I think you'll find that the folks who love Harrahs value the things that Harrahs gives them (e.g., plenty of nice free rooms, concert tickets and other goodies, tournaments, dining credits, some bounceback, and depending on play, limited cashback, as well as preferential treatment for Diamond and 7* players) and are willing to accept lower ER for those things. Others are willing to forgo those (or some of those) things and play elsewhere because they want the higher ER; those are the folks who hate Harrah's -- IMHO mostly because Harrah's won't let those folks take advantage of them. (note, I know some other folks who hate Harrah's because of personal reasons, and I'm not talking about them here...)
There's a reason why companies like Park Place got acquired -- it's because they gave away too much to be profitable.
But enough of my ranting... Each player needs to decide what's important to him/her and act accordingly. Personally, I like splitting my play between casino companies. It lets me stay in good graces with Harrah's and take advantage of their goodies, while maximizing my ER elsewhere.
I hope you have a fun trip!
Best,
Lainie

I gather from reading the daily posts that most everyone seems to
have a real dislike for Harrahs. I've mentioned before that the only
casino in NC is Harrahs in Cherokee, and I don't think we have fair
gaming and our games are all class II games. I've been curious as to
the reason other than the bad pay schedules that everyone dislikes
Harrahs so much, when they boast so much about their Total Rewards
program being one of the best. In North Carolina our free rooms and
show tickets DO NOT come out of our Total Rewards account. They are
just given to us in addition to the points we earn for playing, and
we still receive the "bounce back" cash. Our points can be used for
meals or saved for gifts, airline tickets or whatever. The play in NC
also gets me offers for free rooms in other states where there are
Harrahs, so I was just curious when I saw a post saying the RFB came
out of someones total reward account and wondered if it was different
in LV. I know there must be valid reasons or there wouldn't be that
many of you saying the same things but I just wondered if it is that
different from state to state.
Also, my daughter is wanting to go to the Cheesecake Factory to eat
one night while we are in Las Vegas next month. Has anyone been and
is it somewhere close to Caesars Palace?
thanks
Vicki
