Discretionary Comp Question

Hi,
I'm east coast so dollar 9/6 jacks is my game

According to VPFree2 Database :

Boyd Properties give .167% comp on less than 100% games
Station gives .3%
Both give discretionary comps.

On just a day trip I'm playing and I've given them approx. $12,000-15,000 worth of play when I decide to take a meal break.

At Boyd I've earned approx. $20-25 comp
At Station its approx. $36-45.

Do I use my pts. and limit myself within that range or do I save the pts.and go to the card desk or a host and say I'd like to get a food comp for what ever the name restaurant ?

How do either of these tactics affect mailings if I'm thinking of staying there on my next LV trip?

BTW I would probably finish my initial day of play in one of these casinos with approx. $20K +.

Thanks,

Larry Feldman

I don't have any experience with Stations. At Main Street Station and the Cal, you could certainly see a host and they give you a pretty generous meal comp. At MSS, the folks in the slot club can give you a comp to the buffet for pretty minimal play. The advantage of a buffet pass there is that it includes a line pass, and the lines there can get pretty long. You'll definitely get good mailers from Boyd.

I haven't had as much success getting meals comped at Orleans and Gold Cost, but I don't play at nearly your levels. There's no $1 job at Orleans.

If you go to Main Street Station, the only $1 JOB machines I know of that give 1 point for $1 coin-in are the bartops. The 9/6 slant-tops are on machines that also offer 10/7 Bonus, so unless something has changed, they take $3 coin-in for one point.

McK,
Thank you for your reply. I should have been more specific in my initial postings by saying that I am not looking to stay downtown.
Hoping to hear from other bd. members.

This may be obvious, but since points can be used as FP at Boyd, I would usually ask for the discretionary comp if I thought there was any chance I rated it. Why give away money if you don't have to? Don't see how it would affect future marketing offers, but then what does affect marketing is often one of the great and wonderful mysteries of life....
