I was at the Canyon on Saturday, Jul 29.
First stop...the booth to get my 500 free points. I asked what I had
to do to get better offers in the mail. They checked my history,
Noted I'd been in 3 times this month, puzzled awhile, then asked what
I played. When I said VP, they looked at each other knowingly and
said that explained. Had I been playing the pennies, I'd have gotten
much better mailings.
Fuming, I went to the bartops where there are only 2 single-line
quarter machines left. I went to the one on the right (the one with
the decent display, and the NSU deuces is now 15/9, and the Job is
downgraded as well (I think it was 8/5). Maybe this had something to
do with the fellow at the end of the bar last time who was upset
because he only hit one royal this week. I guess he had been hitting
it pretty hard that month. Out of desparation, I headed to the other
machine (fuzzy washed out monitor) and the paytable was still NSU.
So, we are now down to one decent single-line game, the players club
discriminates against VP players, overall a pretty poor visit.
On the bright side, I did learn that with 1000 points ($1000 coin in)
you can get a $5 coupon to use at the grill with nothing taken away
from your total (max of $40 per day), so at least I got $5 at the
grill along with $10 for parking and playing.
Overall, I think I will quit playing there.
Bummer, I liked the atmosphere, bartenders, tall fat tires and good
bloody mary's.
