Dining in New Orleans

I'm going to N'Awlins in a week or so and will be able to report some great
restaurants - my friend is a great gourmet

Good ones within 10 or so blocks from the Marriot on Canal St. would be greatly appreciated.

The options are almost overwhelming. Take a look at the New Orleans forum on Chowhound.com; the opinions there are varied... and strong!

Recently enjoyed a nice meal at Olivier's in the 200 block of Decatur. Try the gumbo trio appetizer.
