Educate me. Why is ARCO one of the worst?

I have a friend whose husband works at Chevron & he tried to convince that
theirs & Shell were the brands to buy due to the additives. So I asked the
shop that takes care of my cars (they used to work on race cars at Laguna Seca)
& they said that they didn't see much difference in most brands nowadays
however in years past, some brands were bad & some brand X stations pumped to the
bottom of theirs tanks which would bring up gunk which would gum up the
filters. (This problem also happened to me with a brand name: 76)

BTW, I did go to the toptiergas.com site & read the few pages of material.
One thing was not clear. Who did this site?

I was told that a consumer group owns that website and I will check
into it. Arco gas is one of the worst gas stations to use simply due
to the least amount of additives they put in gas now. If you read
about gas in the old days like the 50's and 60's gas was better back
then. In my older car muscle car you have to run premium and sometimes
I put in 100 octane to keep the junk out of the engine. I guess the
gas nowadays is not as good as the days of yesteryear. Water,
additives, etc. Especially gas stations that have very old tanks and
allow seepage that is very bad. Yes there are lots of tanks that are
old and rusty and all that leads right into your gas tank. You can
also look into consumer rports which has done ratings on gas stations
before as well.
