1a. Re: Trumps Wants No Smoking Ban Recinded

Not entirely accurate. As it relates to casinos in Nevada, smoking is banned in
any area
where food is served/eaten, so all public areas such as shopping malls,
hallways, etc., are
available for smoking, but food courts are not. Some casinos have taken the ban
further
on their own; for example, Bellagio only allows smoking on the gaming floor, but
that is
their own policy and not law.

Thanks for the correction; I was at a meeting at Paris and the info I shared was "announced" by the meeting chair as the "new law in Nevada". Your facts make more sense, since I saw people smoking in some of the areas you indicate as OK to do so.

I just assumed they were violating the law - incorrect assumption. Or, they might have been following the new law, and the announcement may have been made based on Paris interpretation, policy, or application that had been communicated to the meeting folks.

Smoking is prohibited anywhere indoors in Nevada where people are employed
with the following exceptions:

(a) Areas within casinos where loitering by minors is already prohibited by
state law pursuant to NRS 463.350; (b) Stand-alone bars, taverns and
saloons;
(c) Strip clubs or brothels;
(d) Retail tobacco stores; and
(e) Private residences, including private residences which may serve as an
office workplace, except if used as a child care, an adult day care or a
health care facility.

Again, not quite. These are areas where smoking IS allowed, but it is not true that all
other
places have smoking banned. For example, smoking is allowed on casino gaming floors
but not in casino restaurants. All "neutral" places (not a video arcade or childcare facility)
beyond those such as walkways, it is up to the casino to decide if smoking is allowed or
not. Many are not allowing smoking in those areas, but I've been in quite a few where it is
allowed, especially if a restaurant opens to a walkway or mall area and patrons need to
step out to indulge.

For a very simple guide to where smoking is not allowe and where it is, anyone interested
