12. Business trip but already comped R and some F at that hotel - ev str
Date: Tue May 8, 2007 6:38 pm ((PDT))

I'm going on a business trip so work is buying. But, I'm already room
comped and small amount of food comped at that hotel and don't really
want to have to play to my average daily play - and may not even have
time to.

I figured I'd just stay somewhere I'm not known at and not play much -
anybody have and better strategies for this? It seems like the best of
both worlds - work AND the hotel want to pay my bill, but also the
worst of both worlds - it might hurt future comps.

Thanks for any thoughts - and I know, it doesn't sound like a situation
that garners much sympathy

I get these situations from time to time -- I stay somewhere other than my usual in order not to generate any room / meal charges that need comped, letting the business pay for it. If I want to play a little at my usual place, I let my host (if you don't have one, now's a good time to contact someone) know the situation and ask them how I should handle it (usually they want the play). I also usually try to extend my stay for a day or two of "real" vacation, if at all possible.

By not generating room / meal charges that need comped, they are less likely to expect me to play at a level that supports those comps. At least that's my thinking.

This often is not a good thing to do. Almost no host that I know of can counteract marketing moves. They move in different circles. If the casino goes on daily average, your marketing offers will fall for sure if you play below your regular average, no matter what the host tells you. I would never risk it.
