Digest Number 174

In addition to all the other things mentioned, I find the staff
friendlier and the low-end food better at Mohegan Sun.

Also, since my parents live in CT and i live in north NJ, I almost
always go to a CT casino with my parents. My mother, a stroke survivor,
enjoys that it is much easier to pick up a wheelchair at MS, and that both
the valet and self parking leave you much closer to the gaming floor.

Also spent my first overnight stay at each property during Christmas
week. MS has in-room high-speed internet access, and my standard room had a
mini-bar.

MS just seems to run a classier operation. And of course it helps that
their best VP games not only are better EV-wise, but have standard pay
schedules. (Has anyone seen 10/7/4/900 Double Bonus anywhere but Foxwoods??)

I'm not surprised. I live in CT and no one that I know goes to Foxwoods.
Obviously some do but MS appears to be the casino of choice for most

locals.

Just last Sunday, Foxwoods had an insert in the Hartford Courant with
coupons for various stuff at the casino. I was shocked that they had to
offer 20% off stores and restaurants to get people to show up.

My guess is that MS has continued to capture a big piece of Foxwoods'
business. People coming from western and central MA and NY, especially

NYC,

have no reason to travel the extra 15-20 minutes to go to Foxwoods. My

guess

is that this crowd has a higher per cap wager.

Self parking at MS is more convenient. I like the ambiance of the
Sky Casino more than anything at FW. Getting arounf FW is a real
hike, seems much more compact at MS.

I'm eligible for the highroller lounges at MS but not at FW cuz
of the VP play.

Maybe i'm just biased cuz of the VP.

The bank of $1 96 at the MS sports bar no longer allow you to play 8 coins
at full pay...at least I could no longer find any of these. I was there on
Sunday night and I checked at least 10 machines and all of them stopped at 5
coins in at the 96 paytable. If anybody finds any that I missed please let
me know.

Assuming I did not miss any, I'm a little puzzled by this action by MS.
Since they offer a number of $1 and $5 96 so I'm not totally sure about
their objection with $2. I can only assume that they feel that they can't
get hurt with the $1 game and it brings in a lot of regular VP players.
Also, I assume that they feel that few have the bankroll to regularly and
properly play the $5 so they leave those in.

The lack of good $2 games at casinos isn't limited to MS. I have found that
many casinos seem to skip $2 machines. It is a pretty big jump to go from
dollars to $5 for the average player.
