Digest Number 1650

For me, email takes a much lower priority than phone calls. Email means that
action can be deferred until it's more convenient for the receiver.

Some hosts may be like me where email might pile up for 2 - 3 days,
sometimes a week if I'm travelling, then I'll blast through the pile in one day. Many
of the older hosts are barely computer literate & you can tell that they
prefer a phone call. Once you get to know their preferences you build in a lot
of lead time.

The value of email over phone calls is that you have documentation of your
interaction. To move priority up, I'll often email someone, then ask the
receptionist for that person's voicemail where I'll message them to check their
email & ask them to please reply by email.

Hi Group,

Daily reader, very infrequent poster. Always great info from
everyone. I am not sure if this is a topic that has been brought up
before but my experience with e-mailing casion hosts has been less
than wonderful. Right now, I am waiting for reponses from three
different properties. One message has been out there 4 days, another
2 days, the third, well, minutes but if my past experience holds up,
this one won't respond anytime soon. Of course, I know I could use
the phone but e-mail is easier and I can access it from a number of
locations.

What is it with casino hosts and e-mail? Am I impatient? I actually
followed up once on an e-mail to a host. She told me she hardly even
reads them. huh!?! E-mails equal phone calls in my book.

I am interested in others' experiences.
