Carlos,
Thanks for the explanation. You're right, my Mac can't do that, er, won't allow that.
Besides the relative safety of the Unix/Mac OS, I have a router between my cable modem and computers, giving some measure of firewall protection.
I get at least a half dozen messages from Cox every day saying that a virus had been intercepted. I'm sure that all the Windows users on Cox cable appreciate that service. I doubt that Cox is even bothering to watch for a Mac virus.
And to answer your question, Bill Gates is not in jail because, although his system design is vulnerable to viruses, he is not a creator of the viruses. I suspect that if Gates wanted to create a virus, it would be undetectable, foolproof, and totally destructive; in other words, much more effective and reliable than Windows. ;- )

things.
Modern Windows-based viruses have the ability to reach into an MS Outlook Contacts Folder, retrieve some of the email addresses it finds, then use those addresses as the return address on infected messages it sends out.
Pretty clever, eh? Can your fancy Macintosh do that? HUH? HUH? I didn't think so!
Um, tell me again why Bill Gates is not in jail?
