One thing to be aware of is that "auto hold" on IGT machines may not be
accurate. In my area they had them for awhile on the Majestic Star (Gary
IN). These IGT machines were so inaccurate (about -1% to payback for 9-6
jacks and -2% on deuces) that after enough people complained the auto hold
was disabled. I have seen accurate auto hold on VLC machines but never on
an acceptable payback game.

Thanking for pointing that out. I don't want to give the misimpression that
just using auto-hold is good enough. You do need to make corrections.

However, one thing to note is when the progressives go up, the auto-holds
which were incorrect at lower levels become correct at higher levels. For
example, holding 3 to a royal over a high pair becomes correct when RF = 5000, except
for AXTs where X = K, Q or J. This might be a poor example because I don't
remember if auto-hold holds the pair or 3 to a royal.
