In response to all of the below comments...
Many of the list members may be "professional" or just prefer to play like the pros to make a profit. HOWEVER there are many people who seek out those Travel Chanel, Discovery and other TV vegas and gambling shows because they gamble for the fun of it. I get enjoyment from gambling and yes, of course hope to hit a good one ... but that is what gambling is to me and many others.. you play and have fun and you just might hit a jackpot, be it big or small, or perhaps just be lucky enough to break even (and yet, you still have your hotel and food all paid for since you gamble enough to get comped! These are my mini, and yes some maxi, vacations).
Certainly I do want to know how to play the games well and have the correct strategy no matter what the game is, and therefore try to learn more about "gaming" and "gambling" in order to be a better educated consumer (at least).
All the advice given may not be pertinent to all those who play. I find the "give yourself a goal" ($win, $lost or time) works well for me. I also make up my own "strategies" to keep the games fresh, which is almost like adding an additional game, for example: be it the marathon approach (playing all the casino slots or perhaps only the double diamonds or maybe play five pulls on each machine in a row, or alternate full coin in with less than full on machines that are straight multipliers, etc. etc. etc.)
I don't mean to offend anyone on the list or start and big discussions, only that I feel that those TV programs are aimed at a lot of different players with different goals, bankrolls, and reasons for playing, etc. I guess common sense and logic are to rule here.
If this list is only for professionals and those only concerned with the bottom line, then I have stumbled onto the wrong list (but.. I can still learn a lot..tee hee).

I basically agree with the Wong/Dancer philosophy. If you're an
adequately bankrolled player who's in it for the long haul, there's no
reason to stop playing just because you've won or lost a certain
amount today. More time played means more money earned (on average,
of course) -- provided you don't get tired and start making too many
mistakes.
I'm not really surprised to hear a gambling "expert" on TV make
incorrect statements. It happens frequently. What's important is
that you understand how the winning process works and act accordingly.
